| HERE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE TOWN'S FAVORITE AUTHORS. PULL UP A CHAIR AND GRAB A BOOK BY ANY OF THESE AUTHORS; YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! |
| DEAN KOONTZ: Some of Koontz's books may be just a little too far out for everyone's taste, but his writing is simply the best, as he draws the reader deeper and deeper into the story. His development of the relationships between the main characters is unsurpassed in each of his books, which never fail to be page-turners. Our favorite: Watchers JONATHAN KELLERMAN: Child psychologist Kellerman centers most of his suspense books around child psychologist Alex Delaware, as he helps the police work their way through solving yet another case. Involved, excellent reading. CATHERINE COOKSON: One of the world's most beloved writers, Cookson, who died in 1998, left behind a large legacy of wonderful stories, including several still to be published. Having read and enjoyed each one of them, it is difficult to choose just one favorite, but we always think of The Dwelling Place as one of the best. PATRICIA CORNWELL: Most of Cornwell's books center around Dr. Kay Scarpetta, Virginia's chief medical examiner, as this expert in forensics attempts to solve crimes. Character development is excellent here also, and makes for terrific reading. If you like one, you will like all of Cornwell's novels. RAY BRADBURY: The Mayor's all-time favorite author. . . .not just for science fiction, but for some wonderful characters, remarkable insight into human nature, and some of the finest short stories ever written. BARBARA MICHAELS: Wonderful mystery reading! Michaels has been named Grandmaster by both the Anthony Awards and the Mystery Writers of America. Our favorites: Ammie Come Home and Be Buried in the Rain. ELIZABETH PETERS: Barbara Michaels writing as Elizabeth Peters has provided us with some of the most delightful characters in fiction, particularly Amelia Peabody, whose adventures in Egypt in Victorian times are filled with both suspense and laughter. We cannot name a favorite here; they are all wonderful! But one should begin with the first Amelia Peabody mystery to fully appreciate the characteres over the years covered by the series. ROSALIND LAKER: We have enjoyed every one of Laker's sweeping historical romances. Favorites include The Sugar Pavilion, Circle of Pearls, and To Dance With Kings. |
