1 cup water
3 tablespoons flour or tapioca
2 teaspoons sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 pounds lean beef stew meat, cut into cubes
4 to 6 medium carrots, cut into 1-inch chunks
3 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
2 celery ribs, cut into 3/4-inch chunks
1 medium onion, cut into chunks
In 3-quart casserole, combine first six ingredients. Add rest, mix gently,
cover, and bake at 375 degrees for 2 hours. Serve in bowls. 6-8 servings.
(Grandma Lyn's note says this goes together in no time using a small
bag of peeled carrots and precut stew meat from the grocery store.)
1 box butter pecan cake mix
1 to 1-1/2 sticks melted margarine
Pour pie filling into baking dish. Sprinkle with cake mix. Drizzle
melted margarine over all. Bake at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes
until browned. Serve hot or cold. For a real treat, top with
vanilla ice cream.
(Grandma Lyn's note says this can be made with other kinds of
fruit filling. Peach, blueberry, and apple are especially good.)
