If we were to name our favorite poet of all time, it would have to be
William Wordsworth.  Of his many, many writings, our personal favorite is
Ode:  Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood.

A huge favorite is Amy Lowell. We first became aware of her writings
after reading the incomparable
Patterns.  A favorite collection is
the volume
East Wind, and particularly the selection from it
entitled
"The Day That Was That Day."

Another favorite is Ella Wheeler Wilcox.  Her many poems, written
in the late 1800's, remain powerful and of interest yet today.

We must also mention
James Whitcomb Riley, whose delightful,
nostalgic, often humerous poetry is a joy to read.  Favorites
are
Out to Old Aunt Mary's and Knee-Deep in June.

Our favorite volume of poems is a very old one
called One Hundred and One Famous Poems
edited by Roy J. Cook.  This book has been
reprinted many times and should not be difficult
to find.  It is the best collection we have seen.
