STRAWBERRIES WITH ALMOND CREME FILLING

8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 quart fresh whole strawberries, capped
(cut off stem ends straight across)

Beat cream cheese, sugar, and extract until smooth.  Spoon into a
pastry bag fitted with medium star tip.  Chill 1 hour.  Quarter the
strawberries from tip to stem end without cutting through stem end.
Pipe cream cheese mixture into strawberries (berries will be upside-
down, pointed ends up, on plate).  Chill until ready to serve.  (Don't
fill berries too far ahead of time.)  This recipe is always a big hit.



CHESS SQUARES

1 box Duncan Hines Butter Recipe cake mix
1 stick butter
4 eggs
1 1-lb. box powdered sugar
8-ounce package cream cheese

Hand mix (or pulse in food processor) cake mix, butter, and 1 egg.
Pat out on bottom of pan.  With mixer, mix 3 eggs, powdered sugar,
and cream cheese.  Pour over first layer and bake at 350 degrees for
45 minutes.  When cool, cut into small squares about 1-1/2 inches.
As good as it gets!
